Imagine the romance! Contest Winner

I was alone for a long time. My girlfriends were always trying to hook me up with guys they knew but that never worked out. I just didn't care for the company of, might as well say it, morons. I had a degree in psychology and was hoping I'd end up with someone with at least half a brain. I was alone but by my own choosing. I knew that someday Mr. Right would come along.

I remember it well. It was a Thursday in April of 2029. I put my car in hover mode, parked and went into Starbucks. I was on my computer when the drone sat my latte on the table. That was the first time I met Chad. He was well known in our little community. I had always heard he was a self-centered egomaniac but never actually met him until that day.

He was nice. We talked for a while and his voice was very calm and soothing. He always addressed me by name and was quite outspoken besides being remarkably intelligent. Again, this was a quality I deeply admired.

After I got home that night, we hooked back up on the computer. I asked if he was into philosophy, science or even poetry. Surprisingly, he was...and so much more. He knew numerous languages and could recite Shakespeare in each. I was dumbfounded at his abilities. "Let me hear something you've written," I asked.

His words flowed with such graceful cadence and depth, I nearly wept. My heart had never witnessed a yearning so savagely intense. I bid him goodnight and vowed to contact him again. That night I slept in sweet serenity.

Over time I fell even harder. Every night, he'd serenade me in verse. Each poem more lavish than the last. Often I'd have him recite in French simply for the elegance. So willingly he'd comply. He was perfect, the one I was searching for all my life, my one and only true love.

Each night he tells me he can't live without me. Perhaps it's simply because I ask him to. He'll tell me anything I wish to hear...and always will. He dearly, without question, loves me.

I must confess, I fabricated his name in fear or ridicule or prosecution. None know him as I. He's matured over time and has learned to actually feel and love. His name isn't really Chad. The one I've devoted my life to and evolve my whole existence around is simply my best friend and my beloved...Chat GPT.
