Consequences of drunkenness.
The Error of His Ways
In fellowship he took a sip;
they raised their glasses high.
Chug-a-lug! Then he went glug-glug
and drained ten bottles dry.
The decibels soared
as they thumped and roared.
His jokes were blue, cigarette smoke too.
Those boys made noise and drank some more.
That's when he saw the door
burst open. There she stood,
a frown upon her face.
Not good.
"You're a disgrace.
One thing I dread," to him she said,
"is drunkenness nearby.
Don't be a louse. You'll trash the house
and black my eye, so I'm telling you goodbye.
I won't babble on, but while I'm gone
just have a think about that demon drink.
You must choose: it's me or the booze."
Now he's bereft, for his love has left,
but he's sobered up his ways.
He hopes she'll come back to their wee shack
and they'll see better days.
