We Are One

We were strong at eleven
Our mother - a gift from heaven.
Dad made sure of zero crime
As he had us all in line.

The kids number in nine
Now aging like fine wine.
We had our moments of sour
Biting and scratching most hours.

Five girls and four boys
Christmas tree loaded with toys.
The dinner table made us one
Sticky fingers till all were done.

Sports were played by all
Dad led us in basketball.
Mom had golf and all the smarts
Even showed brilliance in the arts.

Reunions are few and far between
Distance and families are now the scene.
Mom and dad have since left
Looking down feeling magnificent.

What we`ve learned through the years
Keeps us close and lovingly dear.
To each - support comes readily
Proud and humble - a united family.
