Pondering Life Today

Would Rather We Just Lie Down

by Rob Maxey

Standing high on a mountain top

Or in the desert with no one around

As we gaze upon the stars

Would there still be hate abound

If alone in the Dark Artic Winter

Leaning into a frozen Gale

With eyes behind a scarf

Flapping behind us like a sail

Would we wish to be among others

Instead of alone, in a frozen Hell

Or would rather we just lie down

And wait for death to make us well
