Relentless and unforgiving, the waves pummeled the small body. The breakers came in rapid succession, knocking Ellis down and under the water. The seven year old was no match for this awesome force of nature. The water was only about waist deep, but each time he was knocked under the water and tried to struggle to his feet another breaker would knock him down and under again. Panic overwhelmed him. The undertow was powerful and kept him from making his way back to shore.

Behind him and back toward shore he became aware of another disturbance. Through the foam of the surf he saw frantic splashing approaching him. All of a sudden strong arms scooped him out of the water and brought him to shore. It was Aunt Ginny. Confident and assertive Aunt Ginny. Always happy to take charge of a situation. Now she took charge of saving Ellis' life.
