Benefits Of A Metal Roof

by AnnieDawn

How fortunate to have a metal roof atop my home.

I hear the scratch of bird feet on the peak.

The crows are big, so very noisy walking on the dome.

They tap, tap, tap when pecking with their beak.

The swooshing sounds are different as the leaves slide off the roof.

In Fall they gather into one big glob.

They hit the edge, drop to the ground, and sound like a loud “whoof”.

I rake leaves but it soon becomes a job.

The sound of rain is soothing. Pitter pat till morning sun.

I fall asleep to sounds of soothing rain.

When storms approach the sound resembles bullets from a gun.

I toss and turn, then jerk awake again.

Winter time is when a metal roofing starts to draw

The snowflakes, soon a load upon the roof.

Then sliding to the ground when Spring arrives to start the thaw.

I shovel, aching muscles are my proof.
