Excellent
Not yet exceptional. When the exceptional rating is reached this is highlighted
In a matter of a few years, big changes in our village..

Our Town

by HarryT

In a once quiet and peaceful place
I saw from the last window laced

Five steely giraffes bowing down
Smoke belching beetles chewing the ground

No longer the music of leaves in the breeze
No longer the sound of grass growing ease
Not even an island of tawny toned weeds.

Now the sun no longer even a specter
Lanced just as Achilles did Hector
Our streets are canyons of haze
No more will Jack set maples ablaze
Gone are the elm, oak and maples
Now glass and concrete our staples

Our homescape is changing
Development gods need shaming
As their storage cabinets pierce the sky
Adulterating our beautiful sky

Steel and glass has won the hour
More and more every hour
The politicians continue to win
Filling their pockets with the fruits of urban din
.

Goodbye to the quite of old life
Hello to the hubbub of new strife
As storage towers continue to climb
Housing the specimens of our New Urbania

Writing Prompt
Share with us one of your oldest pieces of poetry, exactly as you wrote it. It doesn?t need to be your earliest work - just something old enough that you can see your progression as a writer. I want to see all those excessive ellipses, capitals at the start of every line, the abundance of semicolons, the pretentious repetition, the unnecessary line spaces that are.....

SO.....

IMPORTANT....

to my art!

I want you to swear on your honour you won't edit it before posting (adding an image is allowed, as we're in Fanstory Land). Other than that, no limitations.

Previous entrants are more than welcome, but remember these must be pieces you haven?t shared previously on Fanstory. Go digging in your old school notebooks with random scribblings in them - find us something fun and interesting!
