I Begged My Many Demons

by John Ciarmello

I entered life; an empty slate,
Chisel poised in hand.
With uncensored years;
I fell to sin
my retribution to all commands.

I begged my many demons.
“Let me meet my so-called Lord.”
Then, I looked into His eyes of grace
and drove a sharpened sword.

I toted words through unsalvageable times,
words -
I knew God never said.
Then, I laid my crown upon
my pillow and kissed the Devil’s head.

I’ve stepped into the minds of doom,
and I’ve praised their twisted laws.
Then, I read the parables
of the Lord
and struck them down with satan’s claws.

Now, above me floats this Angel.
“No, no! The Devil is my “lord!”
Then, her arms pulled in my darkened soul,
“God says,
'you are adored.' "

I'm nowhere near the caliber of my poetic idles here on FS. You all know who you are. It does help my state of mind to dabble in it once or twice a year.
