A young boy hangs himself from a tree

Square Peg, Round Hole.

by Mark Childs

Questions asked,
Answers sought,
The rope to serve me,
Wrapped and taut,

Choices made,
While in the womb,
Secrets buried,
Within my tomb.

Love denied,
Judgement day,
Decision made,
I am gay.

Abandoned, lost,
Discarded, torn,
Forever to face,
Parental scorn.

Never to enjoy,
Another kiss,
Never to feel,
My lover's bliss

Remembered forever,
For one last deed,
Remember for eternity,
As a damaged seed.

Confused and angry,
Hurt and scared,
Everyone knows,
My soul is bared

Abandoned with no hope,
Helpless and alone,
No crime committed,
Feel I must atone.

No turning back,
My life is destroyed,
Not quite a man,
Not longer a boy.

A leap of faith,
Darkness beckoning,
Peace at last,
My final reckoning
