A look inside
The hourglass has been turned
As the sand runs quickly through it
He knows
His "Monday's coming"
On the outside
He looks like he has it
All together
He works every day
Takes care of those close to him
Smiles and laughs
Appropriately
BUT
On the inside
The pain of being used and cheated on
Have left him
Scarred, bitter and afraid to
Love or trust again
Day after day
Night after night
Those memories
Torture him
No one sees the tears
The heartache
The weariness he carries inside
So
He made a promise
To himself
Make his life one of peace and comfort
Never to allow anyone to steal his joy
He calls his promise
Monday
The hourglass has been turned
As the sand runs quickly through it
He knows
His "Monday's coming"
