Where is My Desire?

by Senyai

Do you remember us young, so easily derailed, tormented
when our release was fire desire all up-lather and fomented?

Now time has given us older bones but with brains chock
full of memories, the mental files sorted, arranged ad hoc

To recover over coffee, jointly laughing at our primal survival
plus-plus years of joys, despairs that to us are surely archival

Where the sky was our limit, now our desire is subtle cuddles
When our emotions were oceans, now are little muddle puddles

But love led us here, fields of gilded goldenrod so lazily winking
My desire?  Up to our ears in blooms further afield and sinking

Thanks so much for reading.

* Many thanks to Sue Tarkenton - beautiful photograph on the Blue Ridge Parkway

* foment: verb - to rouse or incite

* ad hoc: adjective -ad-lib, extemporaneous, spontaneous, made or done without planning because of an immediate need

* Goldenrod blooming typically begins in mid-to-late August and often lasts into early October. The Native American's referred to the goldenrod as Sun Medicine because of its bright color and medicinal qualities. Goldenrod Tea is a soothing, herbal, late-summer to fall hot tea drink. The cut leaves and flowers have a sweet anise-like scent that gives the tea its flavor. Enjoy it alone or with honey or your favorite sweetener.
