A lonely heart

Alone and Forgotten

by poetwatch

I boast of warmth with no woman
and hide from the world.

Day-by-day, gray clouds hover
over my windows as they darken.
A whisper of what was isn't anymore.

I wander in my mind and melancholy see a man
down in a dam of despair.
Where is my life?
Did it fly the seasons without wings?
It's grounded, flowers growing between my toes.

My heart feels frigid fingers,
the breath, without love, leaving my body.
I'm lost in a world of gloom, alone and forgotten.
Can you help me? Share with me some bliss; spare my life with your kiss,
before I fade away into a moonless night.
