The future is not written in stone.
Reflections of a dying breed
by Jesse James Doty
As the hands chase each other around the dial of time,
I find that my bit-chomping days are over and done.
And nobody has lost or won, yet we remain on the playing field--
long after the rain has brought the game to an undesirable end.
Yes, my friends, we all have to face that we can be replaced by the next generation of breeders, and feeders, off the land we once called home.
We are not alone, yet in some contexts we are, and we'll be shooting stars before you know it.
So, let's not blow it by ending it too soon, and do not assume that it's all been a deliberate waste of time. You can taste defeat but, know that your heart is still aflame with desire, to do something righteous, noble, and profound with your life.
