They made it easy for her by leaving the door open. Fools, didn’t they know the number one rule in life: Always protect what you have!
Around the neighbourhood she was known as the slinker, able to get into any small space at any time. She had a reputation to keep.
Further along the passage she could hear the steady sound of snoring sleepiness. They were out like a light. So easy!
As she picked the kitten up in her mouth, she could imagine their looks of shock and disappointment tomorrow morning. No human was going to steal her baby.
