The Heart of Christmas

by Sally Law

I don't need a sugary pie.
I won't wear that hideous tie.
There won't be tinsel on my lobes,
or dancing 'round in festive robes.

I will not spend more than I make;
or take a loan out from Aunt Blake.
You won't find me power shopping...
you won't hear my chestnuts popping.

Are these the things that I must do
to make a Christmas fine for you?
We've moved away from the main thing...
Christmas is in the heart... not bling.

But what I have is deeper still,
a love for Christmas you can't kill.
Commmercialize it if you must,
I'll have the day--my way--or bust!
