Fake Science Article

The topic for this contest is: Science!
Write a fictitious science article. One that looks and reads just like an article you might find in a peer-reviewed journal, but with a satirical spin.
Entries should be, first and foremost, entertaining for the general reader. An element of humor, suspense, horror, scifi, or unbridled absurdity should dominate the entry. So pick a fun or bizarre, science-related topic to write about (e.g. an experiment testing a vaccine for the zombie virus; a case-study describing the discovery of a new species that's half-man, half-banana; a psychological profile of a seriously disturbed little boy; a review of experiments that supports the flat-world hypothesis; etc). Make stuff up. Be creative!
All entries must have an introduction and a conclusion (or discussion) section. Add sections in between as you see fit. If you're describing an experiment, you must also have a Methods and Results section. Think back to the lab reports you had to write in high school or college-level science courses.
But, again, don't stress over format. Contest Voters will consider writing quality and entertainment value first, and resemblance to a science article second.

Minimum length 1,000 words. Maximum Length 8,000 words. Recommended length 2,000-5,000 words.
The contest winner will win half of the prize pool which is based on the number of entries. The second and third place winners will each share the remaining prize pool. The prize pool is currently 55.00 member dollars. There are 7 spots still open. If all open spots are used the prize pool will be 90.00 member dollars. In this contest at least 5 submissions must be made for the vote to begin.
