10 Character Ballad
Poetry Contest
Winless For 30 Days
There is a certain quality of ballads that I enjoy, so I have created a competition for other writers (a little) better than me.
Write a rhyming ballad that tells a story with precisely 10 characters and 4 conflicts.
Begin with some description and introduce the characters and the conflict.
In the middle, create conflict and confusion for both the reader and the characters. Develop the personality of each character and how it relates to his/her conflict. Make the 4 conflicts intertwine.
In the end, resolve all conflicts in a satisfying way. Include a celebration, of any kind, that creates a frame for the story by hinting at the beginning.
This is a Winless contest. Only authors that have not won first place in 30 days may enter.
The contest winner will win half of the prize pool which is based on the number of entries. The second and third place winners will each share the remaining prize pool. The prize pool is currently 12.00 member dollars. There are 12 spots still open. If all open spots are used the prize pool will be 36.00 member dollars. In this contest at least 2 submissions must be made for the vote to begin.
Deadline: Contest is closed. Deadline was Saturday, December 10, 2011.
