Two Meaning 5-7-5 Poetry
Poetry Contest
For this contest you are to write a short poem of only three lines. The structure is that of a Haiku: The first line has 5 syllables. The second line has 7 syllables. The third line has 5 syllables again. The poem must have a title and a have a photograph or picture of an animal or animals of the same type.
Every line of the 5-7-5 must be about the pictured animal. It must also have a title, and here is the twist. This title must be independent of the picture, the poem must also be able to be read as though it is solely about the title.
For example a picture of a cat and the title Burglar. Firstly the Poem must be able to be read with a cat in mind and make sense all the way through. Then on re-reading forget the word cat; it must also make sense when holding the word burglar solely in mind.
The contest winner will win half of the prize pool of 90.00 member dollars. In this contest at least 2 submissions must be made for the vote to begin.
Deadline: Contest is closed. Deadline was Friday, April 12, 2024.
