This is a very sweet fairy tale. I enjoy your style of writing. There is a light, positive energy in your work. Your descriptions make me feel like I am watching them. They sound like a good pair for a movie script. Mike recommended this one too.

Dandelions are flowers and don't let anyone tell you different because they are wrong. And I loved this. It made me smile and we all need that happy ending story every once in awhile

Hi Sally,
I loved your story about Og, the lovesick caveman! It is really special. I passed over a lot of posts before looking at what you had to offer. You've got quite an imagination.
I thought the story might have gone a bit differently at the end though. Why would Ugg choose Og's gifts over the others? They didn't seem that extraordinary. Surely other cavemen brought her rocks and flowers, too. I thought she might have shown more emotion (just) because he took a bath before visiting her. I think the bath put him over the top. The other cavemen stunk! We all know women prefer a clean lover. (I think of that commercial where the couple are sitting down at the table. She looks so nice, but he is wearing a t-shirt, and the neck is sagging and crinkled, unwashed! She comments that he looks... "comfortable" ... to put it as mildly as she can.)

A couple of suggestions...
"He thought and thought of what might please her, scratching his head."
I suggest,
(Scratching his head, he thought and thought of what might please her.)

"No, but I can see you love me, Og. You washed, and you brought me this stone along with pretty weeds."
I suggest,
("No, but I can see you love me, Og. You washed, and you brought me this stone along with pretty flowers.")

An enjoyable read this morning. It caused me to create the whole event in my mind. Thanks for sharing!

Cheers,
Kimbob

Mr. Law was not my first suitor, but his gifts were the ones I was waiting for. I remember when I had just had my wisdom teeth removed and two other boys had brought flowers to the house. As soon as Jack came with his flowers and card, I threw the flowers behind something. Jack caught sight of the other offerings. We still laugh about it to this day. I thought of that memory as I was writing this. (My own love story leaks into many of the ones I write.) I am so pleased you enjoyed this and for the lovely review and stars, I am honored. I have taken your suggestions, as well. Thank you so much, Kimbob.
Sending you my best today as always,

This is a cute story. He showed her true love by cleaning himself and etching his love into a stone. Dandelions are considered weeds, but some people use them for healing purposes.

-Very nice image, Sally,
and such a cute, well
written story about the
first Valentine's Day.
-I appreciate the notes.
-I love the names, and
Og's comment after washing
"Og look good,"
-You really capture the essence
of the cave people; it is like
an early love letter on the clip board
only on stone, but it was lovely,
and along with the dandelion,
won Ugg's heart.
-I wish I had a six for your story.
-I really enjoyed it.
-As far as a dandelion is
concerned, I always thought it
was a weed, too, but maybe
it is in the eye of the beholder!

Hi Sally, what a wonderful little love story. Neither of them could read or write but the act of caring and giving out of love is universal. I really liked this little story. Well written and well thought out. Ulla xxx

"Hoping for a kiss, Og washed the one tooth protruding from his lip. "Og look good," he said, as he studied his reflection in the water. " So much shown with so few words. I can just see Og preening on the shore. I've been told weeds are just plants you don't want. While I have a bank of carefully nurtured day lilies in my yard, I hear others complain of the "ditch lilies" they can't get rid of! Well, it's all in the eye of the beholder, and if Ugg liked the dandelions, then all is well!

Hi Sally. This is a lovely story of Og and Ugg. So sweet and captivating. I thought it was the ancient land of "Ur." But Ur/Uz, either is okay with me. Best of luck in the contest. Marilyn

Thank you for the excellent review and kind compliments. I'm glad you liked Og and Ugg. Uz and Ur are both described in the Bible. Uz was the area where Job dwelled. The Bible mentions that Abraham was called by God to journey to the wealthy city of Ur in southernmost portion of Mesopotamia. Sending you my best as always,
    Sally :) xoxo

Ugh the twin of Ugg was jealous and began to raise cain but with the love of the Lord she was not able, and Og and Ugg lived happily ever after, Sally. :)
Job is one of the hardest chapter of the bible for me to read. It hurts me every time. I still haven't read it all. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for the excellent review and insight into your soul. I have spent months inside the book of Job. It's one of my favorites on suffering. It's also one of the most prophetic books of the Bible. Job say, "I know that my Redeemer lives, and He shall stand on the earth in the latter days. In my flesh I shall see God." Handel's Messiah has this as a part of the musical masterpiece. I believe we are in the very end of the end times right now. Job is right, we will see our Redeemer soon.
Sending you my best today as always,
    Sally :))
