Well, this is truly different. It was interesting to read with its talking spirits and dead bodies in the crawl space. And I was surprised that the narrator was killed too. I thought this is a great poem!

Well that was chilly as hell! This was an excellent tale, and a very well structured story and rhyme. I am glad to see that he got his comeuppance even if it was the "eye for an eye" kind.

Thank you for reading. Sometimes bad people get what's coming to them! I really appreciate your comments, along with the six lovely stars. :)

This is a very well written poem about justice being served. An old man buys an old house, the history of which he is aware. There were several murders committed in the house and with his psychic abilities he knows who did them. The killer comes to the door and introduces himself all the while thinking to himself how easily he can kill the old man and stuff his remains into the crawl space where he hid all the other bodies. The old man turns on him and , gripping his arm in a vice like grasp he tells the murderer that now it's his turn to die. Great stuff!! The poem ends with the vision of a lone spirit creeping from the place it died to the place where now its earthly remains lie hidden. Very good .I do like to see the ungodly get their cumuppance Well done cheers Cass

Lingering spirits is a very intriguing rhyming poem that tells a gripping story. The reader is captivated from the beginning and carried along through the end of this macabre tale. It has twists and turns and the intrigue of the hunter becoming the hunted. I also enjoyed the aspect of terror becoming tranquility. Good job I'm a little confused, was this originally written in 2018?

Yes. I haven't been feeling particularly poetic lately, so I've been riviving some of my older posts that I liked a lot. Thank you for reading my poem and for the wonderful 6 stars. :)

This is some tale. I had to read a second time carefully to see who was killing whom. It is a complex story but you have done a good job at the mystery and the spooky factor. I like your writing as it is unique to you and your voice is always a little left of center. Fine job!

Hi Boogie,
Ooooh - This is an intense write, my friend. A schadenfreude day for your readers, as the killer got his karma served cold. I like that you used a professional psychic. Those gifted folks are often quite helpful to the authorities. I admire the bredth and depth of your poetic talent, as you write in various forms and about a diverse array of topics. Thanks for sharing. Jan

What a tale. I enjoy exploring the old. We explore ghost towns wherever we find them. I would prefer not to venture into Your old place as you describe. We are separated from souls by a thin veil so Scripture says. Perhaps that applies to souls who are in heaven. However, I prefer to simply think about the folk who used to live in the small cabins we find - think of what their life was like. Good poem.

Karma has a face and karma got him, the brute.
A very well told tale, great rhymes. The beat is a bit off in some places, but can be overlooked to get to the juice of this entire story of murder and revenge.
Brilliant!

You've related an intriguing story to us. The little old man seemed so helpless but we soon learnt otherwise. I don't have any suggestions to make but enjoyed it as it is.
