This 5-7-5, Forever, has the right setup and moves this reader as I try to understand a father allowing his kids to grow up without him.

Shirley, This is a very well written, but very sad poem you have penned about the love for your dad, but he was gone too soon, You used great words and I love the pictures you shared. Handsome dad and lovely little girl, you. love, teri

    Hi Teri,
Thank you for your lovely review.
My father only passed away in 2008 but was lost to me my whole life.
I am writing a book on-site called 'Walk with Me' which explains, acknowledges, accepts and releases
all the heartbreak of my inner child which has been denied a voice my whole life as a survivor of neglect and childhood abuse.
    Blessings

I'm so sorry for you loss. It is hard to lose a parent especially when you are so young and don't have time to make the memories. But knowing he loved you is always a comfort. Well done. Rox

    Oh my, being left in this way is harder I think than a death. I'm so sorry. ={

I can totally relate to this one, Shirley. My father was gone when I was very young too. Your photograph presentation is poignant and shows the sorrow of young Shirley.

Thank you for sharing and great to see you. :)

    Hi Gloria,
Thanks so much for your kind review.
My life was changed that day and my inner child has never addressed the repercussions.
I have been writing a novel (Walk with Me) for a few years now as I finally acknowledge accept, and release the past.
Finally that frightened child which has been hidden so deep inside my psyche has been allowed a voice.
I hope one day my children will see just how hard so many things have been for me and accept all of me just as I am.
I am becoming the person I always knew I could be---a strong, independent, educated woman with a wealth of wisdom,
    compassion and humility.
Thank you for walking this chapter with me.
    Blessings
    Shirley

This speaks saddest incident of your life, unfortunately, at your four, you said goodbye to your father who never came back home; well said, well done. Keep Writing -- DR ALCREATOR

I lost my father young, and did not get a chance to say good bye. Your poem digs deep into the questions young people search to answer as they grow older and understand the significance of a parent.
