For all of the organ donors like Jay..we say "Thank you for giving the gift of Life." They live on in our loved ones. My sister received a liver in 2000 and now loves basketball and does not know why...smile...
Ricky..you truly are climbing that mountain to peace...like I told you in your great review...of my poem. He would want you to be happy...Write on...

I'm so sorry, you lost your son, your only son. It must be the ultimate to endure. You have yet again written a wonderful poem dedicated to his memory. How I wish I could have changed that fate. I'm so sorry. A beautifully written poem. All the best. Ulla:)))

I feel you. I lost my daughter but she left behind her a son who resembles her so much that it is almost like still having her around. Her son has received much because she is so dearly missed. To his credit, he did not grow up spoiled, though he easily could have become so. He just graduated and thoughts of her are heavy on my mind because I know that she would have been so proud. Your powerful poem really made me think of her as I am sure you must miss your child.

You are probably the fifth Fanstory writer to share this subject.
Hard to live with...
Hard to share...
A parents worst nightmare...
Always there.

I can't imagine the horror of losing one of my children, Ricky.
I pray I never have to, and I certainly wish you never had.
I think one of the primary things a parent struggles with when a child of theirs dies is the unnaturalness of it all, them being called home before ourselves.
It defies the "natural order" of things, or the way things are "supposed" to work.
We hold ourselves accountable for their loss, as we are their guardians and protectors in life as parents.
Whether that accountability is justifiable, or not.
We NEVER expect our children to pass from this earthly realm into the murky cold confines and clutches of death before we do ourselves.
I hope one day you're able to stop blaming yourself and finally come to grips with Jason's loss.
Until then, write about it as often as you must.

The accident March 31st 2003 was intentional
The driver had issues.
As for the blame?
I let loose of the reins too soon.
Thanks,
Ricky....

I was speaking in generalizations, of course.
My pleasure.

These song lyrics, Turning in Silence (A Dedication in a Song), bring out the loss and the near-suicidal tone which is battled to keep it going on. Good words in a somber song.

You wrote a lovely tribute to your precious son, and you have managed to express your pain and longing well. Keep the faith and hang in there. One day you will be reunited forever.
