Although this too, is a great write, holding its moral and speaking clearly, for me, my friend, this is not up there with the rest of your writes.... so sorry, and this is only my humble opinion!! I lost the cadence in the words a few times, where normally your words flow so very smoothly. Having said that, it is still a wonderful child's poem!!

Never say you are sorry, Alf. I want to know exactly what you think. How else would I get to have such a huge smile when you bestow a six. I want someone besides me to want (or expect) my poems to be perfect. I will go back and see if I was being lazy like Izzy when it came to the meter. I am glad you liked the message though. - Wendy

Idle Izzie Innis is another fun read Wendy and I like the fact that your final verse reminds the kids not to be like lazy Izzie. You're really steaming ahead with these now, well done.
cheers,
valda

A very well-written chapter in your book. Some people do think that they work hard during the week and deserve to sleep throughout the weekend as much ad they can, not knowing how much fun they'd miss.

Thanks Sandra. While most children are bundles of energy, many these days sit in front of the TV or computer screen all day playing games and can't be roused. Everyone needs a bit of exercise and fresh air. - Wendy

Another terrific kids' poem. I think I'm like Izzie. But then, I'm old.

Again, the illustration is superb. Shouldn't you be giving the artist credit in the notes?

Hey Phyllis. I think every chapter (page) has a nod to the artist, Lynn Hunt. Perhaps I should separate the line. I'm glad you like the poem and I swear, I barely thought of you when I wrote it. - Wendy

It's a great poem with such an important message. Children need to be out exercising and growing and just enjoying life. I really loved your poem and it's so well written. Each line just flows, or rather bounces right into the next.
Great work. Well done.
Jan

thanks Janilou for the read and review. I appreciate the kind words and agree that kids these days need to get out of bed and off the ipads and into the gardens and playgrounds. - Wendy

And how many children in real life could this poem be about?

Many of them, no doubt.

Most just lounge around letting life pass them by, then all they want to do is complain about it.

Before I forget again, congrats on the song win. OK, now, thanks for the read and review. The problem with kids today is they expect everything to be done for them, sit around on their ipads or computers all day and don't get out to play and socialize. I wonder where that is going to lead us. - Wendy

I found this to be exceptionally "cute" and delightful in bringing a smile for the story and situation. It is nicely packaged with colorful and bright artwork and overall I found it to be excellent with no suggestions to improve this work in any way. Many thanks for a fine read! HIS GRAYNESS: Vance

Super job with this chapter, Wendy. Great rhythm and alliteration. Illustration is charming. These are particularly appealing lines:
"she moves slowly to the table
where she sits, a slouchy scrunch."
Marilyn

Thank you Marilyn and Happy Mother's day to you. So you recognize the slouchy scrunch? My daughter had it perfected when she was in pout mode. Never lazy, but an excellent emotional blackmailer. Now she has her own 18-year-old and calls to apologize from time to time for her own behavior. Good for a laugh when you realize the mother's curse is in full swing. - Wendy

That is so funny, Wendy. Isn't it great when our kids realize their past behavior? Often times it comes when they become parents themselves as you mention above. We did the same thing to our folks. As they say, what goes around, comes around.
