This is a heartfelt and gripping piece. I'm so sorry for the abuse you endured. I've been through much of it in my lifetime too. I now work with those who have been abused. Healing that inner child is the only way to freedom.

This is so well-written. It's short and to the point. Your economy of words makes your final statement that much more profound: 'Finally I understand that to acknowledge who I am I must first set the child I was free'.
Thank you for sharing.

I appreciate your comments.
I am trying to become more involved in contests to increase

This was rather short and I wished you'd gone into more of the story. But it's your story and you wrote the way you wanted to write it and as a reader I have to accept that. Wish you not only a fab weekend but also a wonderful life ahead after you leave "the child" behind.

Seken, this is a moving and very well written piece of work. No words wasted but your message comes across very clearly. You are free in body but not in spirit it seems. Time, as they say, is a great healer. Good luck to you. Warm regards Dorothy x

This is just the most touching and enlightening memoir - yes, we HAVE to set that child free, yet it is one of the most difficult things to do. There are oppressors everywhere, in one form or another, and they delight in humiliating, bullying, using us as dumping grounds for complaints...best of luck in the contest with this gem, my friend. Well done!!! (Wonderful artwork you chose too!)

This is a sad but true story about so many people. Countless lives have forever been scarred by abuse - be it physical, mental, or verbal. Your words detail the abuse without being graphic, and the message comes through loud and clear,

Hi there,
You might want to check your word count again for this one. It comes up in Word as 100 exactly but that's because it counts the ellipses as words which they aren't. With those removed it's only 98. It may get disqualified on this basis.
The piece itself is fine and well written with the internal musings and realisation well writ.
All the best

Thanks for your review.
I appreciate your comments regarding the word count and ellipses.
I have changed it slightly by removing the ellipses and using words.
I may still be eliminatec for I don't know the rules regarding changes at this point.
I haven't had a lot of success with competitions but I figure I can't sit by the he fire forever I need to feel thd cold as well

I pray for the day you are free from the torment of your childhood Shirley. It was not your fault dear, it is in them. Your parents. They are there to keep you safe not harm you. Nancy

Comment from Meia (MESAYERS)
I was wrong ... his legacy is always just a thought away. I have walked a lifelong journey to be free. Sadly, most of the time I walked in a circle with no beginning and no end.
Finally I understand that to acknowledge who I am I must first set the child I was free. I feel so much for you I cannot express here. I know just how you feel, my abuser is in prison for a long stretch yet even when he dies I know I will never be free of him in the truest sense. You are so brave and I really hope this wins love Meia x(no sixes left I am sorry for that)

Thank you Meia.
I appreciate your compassion and I'm sorry you understand all
too well what I have expressed.
Courage comes from within and increases with emotional growth and
the ability to let go of past hurts and move confidently forward.
These chapters of poetry and prose will go into my book as a reminder to me that all things are possible if I truly believe in myself and a brighter future.
I sincerely wisb you well as you walk your own path to release and freedom.
