A very well-written uplifting and encouraging poem. To visit an old age home to bring the old lonely people some joy is an excellent idea.

Wally is doing something that is needed done for all those people that are in homes of some kind! I was in a rehab center that was nothing more then a nursing home. One half of the place was the rehab side, the other half was the nursing home part. I went to the administrator and told him I didn't need physical read, just antibiotics. So I would prefer visit those in the nursing home side to at least show them that someone cared. He agreed and the nurses on that side thought I was a God send! I enjoyed my time with them and there were times I would take my food tray and go eat with them.
This story in a poem was very well written and it brought back memories that I hadn't thought about in six years. Thanks for the memory Yvonne,,,,,,,,,Jim

I think the is a fabulous poem, there are so many things in it that need to be said.
I didn't like the way the poem was laid out though. Sometimes three lines, sometimes two. I also found the next to last verse 'Wally's home.......' didn't flow
off the tongue!

I love reading these children's poems to my 3 and 4 year old grandchildren. They always seem to have a great little character and teach them so much. Of course my grandchildren love when I try and get into character, which makes reading these poems even more fun. This teaches them to use their free time to bring joy to others and in turn it will bring joy to you. Wally seems to be a happy and friendly little weasel that kids will enjoy. Best wishes.

Reading Wally to your grandchildren is compliment enough. I'd love to see you "in character." Maybe you could make a video.
It's my hope that Wally will give them good ideas, and, sometimes, I toss in a word they will have to ask about, and learn a new word. 8-)

This poem story is very entertaining and it gives a light of what being helpful is all about. Reading this alerts me that this is not only a special boy, Wally might be a trained scout belongs to some troop serving his community. He must also have saved a day for one of those elderly care takers at that nursing home. I like your choice of color teal as the background for this story and the picture. Nothing flashing nothing grim. Just easy on the eyes to read and look. Your story tells of the good service he did at the retirement home, but then in stanza 9. did Wally get a chance to show off his fabulous paintings to the folks. Just a thought. I like this poem the same as others you have. Best.

No, he was painting to show us where he'd been. Didn't think of showing to the folks he'd visited. Hmmmm. Another story?
Wally isn't a scout or anything like that. He's just a sweet little weasel. I wasn't to show a weasel in a good light, since they are usually thought of in a derogatory way.
Thank you for a lovely review. 8-)

This heartwarming poem is a good lesson in helping others for the children who will be reading your book. The best aspect of it is the detail of Wally's actions. Too much advice to children is overly general, leaving them with little notion of what concrete steps to take to implement the advised task. Well done and aptly illustrated.

The relationship between the very old and the very young can become a special one. When I was teaching, the children in one of my classes developed a special relationship with a local nursing home, to their mutual benefit.
