Like you, I watched the game in its entirety. Like with you, there were points in the game when I did not dare believe what I was seeing. Conspiracy theorists will try to say that it was not real, a setup. Let those fools say and think what they will. If twenty years of Kobe doing the seemingly impossible has not convinced them, nothing ever will. These are the same types of people who do doubt stood outside the ark and wondered if it was truly raining or if it was just a heavy dew. I know, clueless right? You did a masterful job of recreating the dramatics of the game. From my perspective it was dead spot on. From one Kobe fan to an obvious other, I say write on brother, write on.

I just read this again. Wow, what a night. I'm delighted you enjoyed this and I'm thrilled that some non sports fans got a kick out of it too. But, yes, this is for us KOBE fans. Thanks a million. mikey

No wonder they've been voting for this. I'm no American but Kobe's a legend everywhere. Your description of the game was so much better than watching a TV show. It was full of passion and energy of a great fan. Your introductory paragraphs set the scene and inserted the fan, player adulation element into our psyche's. Then you tipped the ball and kept dribbling to the final swish. Just wonderful.
And, yes, men do love their sports. None more than me, or maybe you.

Thanks a million Mark. Wow, I'm really delighted with the awesome review. Congrats on your win. I was pleased to be up their with you and Ingrid getting a nice showing of votes. Two of the very best on the site. I let Kobe do all the work. I just wrote it down like a little kid. I know you understand. mikey

Outstanding work on this sports story mikey. I had to go to YouTube to watch the last few minutes of the game. I don't believe I have ever done that before.
A very well written article. I enjoy your prose just as much as your poetry.
Super job! All the best.

I have to say, I am not a passionate sports fan. I only have a casual interest. I have been to Fenway Park but only on a tour. LOL
I wish I had a six for you because this is a great story. Better that it's true but even if it wasn't.

It was sooooo cool because, of course, it wasn't planned. It just happened that the last play of the game turned out that way. He flung the ball all the way across the court to the next generation. Neat! I'm so thrilled you liked this. It was fun to watch and way fun to write. Thanks so much. mikey

Well Mikey,
These are the things that dreams are made of. Can you imagine watching that as a young kid? of course you can, you're still there! LOL
I have to say though that your re-telling of this was infectious and, yes, addictive. Well paced and perfectly on track. One of the best sports related pieces I have read on here - actually anywhere to be honest.
Great stuff

Yep. I watched every second of it as a young kid. Hell, I do everything as a young kid. I forgot all about growing up. LOL
I have to be honest, I told Kobe before the game, "Make it easy for me. Go do something so awesome that I just have to write it down." Yep, an easy write. Thanks a million. mikey

Hi Mikey,
I love sports but alas, I am not familiar with American sport so I am going to have to take your word for it being the truth. I must admit by the end I was willing him on to reach the magic sixty and even set up the last point.
Great read

Well, Brenda, just insert your favorite player on your favorite team doing something impossible and you have the scenario!
So thrilled you enjoyed this. Kobe did the work, I just wrote it all down. Thanks a million, mikey

I must admit, I was never a Lakers fan, but anyone who doesn't have the utmost respect for Kobe as a basketball player, doesn't really like sports. As a matter of fact, they can't even like anything about life. He gave all of us twenty great years, and what a way to go out, playing as well or better than he came in. I use to hangout at Hollywood park, sometimes at the races, other times playing cards and listening to the Asian chicks yelling "California Blackjack, five dollar minimum." Luckily there were numerous occasions I attended games at the old Forum. Great job. :-)

Oh yeah, the old Forum in the Jack Kent Cooke days Yep. I'm lucky to have Kobe as our hometown boy. He gave me a cool story to write, yes? The greats always do even our rivals. It was the strangest thing seeing the Boston Celtic fans giving him an ovation. mikey

Well you would have made a great sports caster Michael. You get my last six for this masterpiece. If I were listening to, or watching this game instead of reading about it
I would have been as pumped up as you were, except my hero basketball player would be Michael Jordan. Well done Mikey, well done! Nancy

Gee. That would've beat any of the jobs I've had. LOL
You can't go wrong with Air Jordan. I'm lucky to have Kobe as my hometown hero. He was nice enough to provide a great story for me to write, yes? Thanks so much for the kind words. KOBE!!!! mikey

Thanks for bringing this moment to the site. Well written and even I, not an NBA fan, appreciate the finale to a great career. I retire in a few weeks, so I can relate. Just can't score 60 anymore. Haha! You're right. It's a guy thing.

Hey, long time, yes? Nope, I can't score sixty either. LOL
I'm lucky to have this be a hometown moment for me. A great story and all I have to do is just write down what happened. Thanks so much, mikey

You are just too sweet, Helen. I must give a little credit to Kobe, LOL! Every word of this was true and if it wasn't this sure wouldn't be a believable story. I'm so pleased you enjoyed it. Wow. Maybe I will send it somewhere. Thanks so very much. mikey
