This is an expertly clever Halloween poem. You mention several evil-doers in the Halloween Hall of Fame. Your poem has a big dose of humor and I do love that. What makes this an easy read is your ease with flow. Flawless rhythm and rhyme have much to do with that. My favorite line is "There's not much that will help sweeten, A date where you find you've been eaten. SIx star worthy writing.
Happy Halloween!

Hi Craig,
I read through this Halloween poem. In good fun, light and entertaining, simple rhymes, cute ... these are things that crossed my mind as I read, The only thing I thought maybe needed consideration for change was the pair of lines:
You think your boyfriend is [a troll]... dirt ball? your boyfriend has some gall?
Have you ever met a living doll?
Troll and doll... I paused on that and looked at
http://www.rhymezone.com/r/rhyme.cgi?&typeofrhyme=perfect&loc=moreideas&Word=doll
I was surprised at how hard it was from to think of a single word.

Hi Turtle,
Thanks for the nice review. I admit this has me stumped. I followed your link to rhymezone, and you are correct - it's not listed. I don't understand it at all, because the way I say them they are a perfect rhyme (not close, but exact)! The "oll" sound is the same in both. I imagine it must be different over there. Are you saying gall rhymes with doll? Because here, those are completely different sounds. Gall rhymes with fall and doll rhymes with toll. Is there a chance you could spell each phonetically for me, so I can get an idea of the way you say them? I'm curious :)
Thanks again,
Craig.

Ah... I forgot to read the poem with an Australian accent. ; ) it's a dowl
I just couldn't make them rhyme... didn't think to say doll ... like bowl or soul.
This is how I hear doll.
(click on the speakit button, looks like a speaker)
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/doll?s=t
So doll is more of d-awe-ll or oall ?
here,
(and after I say it, my mind comes up a blank for what rhymes, that's why I had to look to see what rhymes with doll.)
And troll/ toll is heard with more of the tr-oh-l ... bowl, soul... toll,

lol I *think* I get it. But while the sound here for bowl and soul are the same, doll is similar, but not exactly the same. The vowel sound is shorter.
The "speak it" of doll to me sounds like "darl", and the "speak it" of troll seems to rhyme with "role". Unfortunately, I don't know of an Australian version of speak it, so you could hear how I say it :)

HI Craig!
Scooby Doo was always my favorite, so I guess watching tv with you next Saturday night would be ok. It's a date then? Do you promise not to hog the remote? I enjoyed all of the classic scary Halloween references set in excellent rhyme. Good luck in the contest!

Absolutely! I'll be waiting, with popcorn in hand. No promises about the remote. Thanks for the generous review, Kim. Craig.

Fun, whimsical, humorous. Great job weaving references like Norman Bates and Chucky into the this tale. It's a fun read and has a strong, positive flow.

lolol, what a trip down memory lane.. lol
this was too funny
If things with hubby should turn bitter
It might be best to hire a sitter
I really would like to advise
Don't leave your kid with Pennywise
I still can't pass a gutter without thinking of Pennywise the clown... nope . Not the same for me anymore.
and Cujo... I actually named my first dog when I got married, Cujo. He was the cutest little Mini Schnauzer... and people would turn around big eyed when I called his name. Expecting some huge dog. and he was all of 10 pounds. LOL
Cute poem, Craig
Good luck in the contest. I still can't figure out what to write
I'm having a block on this one. i might pull out. I hate it when that happens.
LoL
