Hi Craig,
I read your Antonym poem, you chose a strong pair of words... life and death. It taps into a huge well of thought. Philosophers can go on and on and on about both. At some point, everyone who has the capacity to think will touch both words and feel uncomfortable, or feel grateful, or something profound.
They seem like two words so far on the opposite side of the spectrum that they would be hard to touch together in essence, but this poem did so in a quick and easy to relate to way. Antonym's, one cannot really exist without the other. That gives a connectedness to all things, even in oppositness.

Hi turtle,
It is really hard to convey the message I wanted to in so few words. I'm thinking that I didn't do such a good job of it. In retrospect, that might be a better topic for a longer format, and I could have picked a more suitable antonym pair for this format. Thanks anyway for, as usual, getting the essence of what I was trying to say, and for a great review.
Craig.

It is simple, short, and quite profound. I actually believe it will be quite well received in this antonym contest. What could be more opposite than life and death? I like the way you have tied them together, one as a consequence of the other. Excellent work, Craig! It should do well! :)

Yes, and vice versa... I suppose that's the biggest hurdle in life,
is accepting that death is a part of it.... some people REALLY have a
difficult time doing that. I see them nearly crash and burn when
someone dies... or a pet dies... but they KNEW it was coming.
I think, as I get older, it just seems inevitable...
Not that it's not difficult... but I guess maybe I get more like my mother...
she seems to take it all in stride.
I really like this one Craig... well done.
Good luck in the contest.

Thanks so much for the lovely review Cat. I love the line from The Rose:
"It's the soul afraid of dying that never learns to live"
Regarding you becoming more like your mom - maybe for most of us as we get older, and experience it more, we become more used to the idea that no one is immortal?
Thanks again!
Craig

Yep, pretty much, Craig.
Ya' know, it doesn't really matter how fast you can sprint from one place to another, you simply can't outrun Death. He is methodical, relentless, and uncompromising. When it's your time to go, then that's all the time you've got, at least in this realm, anyhow.
Good choices for your Antonym entry.
Good luck in the judging...
Always with respect

Thanks so much Dean for the good wishes and nice comments. Can't have one without the other is pretty much what I was getting at. The only way not to have to face death is not to be born.
Always grateful for your comments :)

My pleasure, Craig.
Again...good luck.

Lots of philosophical meaning in this very short poem. We are all afraid of death, why to take birth then? Mystery of life...Simple but very powerful lines. All the best

Yep, we're all going to get there in the end. Death is life's ultimate destination.
Your Antonym Poetry Contest entry is short and to the point.
Good luck in the contest, CD.
