Must have missed this, Roy- I don't normally take notice of contests because I have an aversion to them. Congrats anyway. You have succeeded in the alliteration and rhyming well within the boundaries of the contest. I am intrigued to know what bedlam's bag means? Couple of things, Line 6 should read Silently stalking-an adverb describes a verb, not an adjective. Line 7, swallows' spirits sag. Enjoyable read. Faye

Oh MY! This looks like a huge challenge but you've done an amazing job with this. I think you were only required to have one alliteration in each line but you've managed two or more. I really admire people who can write to parameters and discipline in the boundaries of these contests. Five ++. Very well-done by my fellow-birdbrain ... I mean that as a compliment, royowen! By far your best lines are two and five: "Wending wheeling twirl and tag:" in other words, birdflight as a joyous, romping, avian game. I can see those "cluttering clowns" clearly. Then on, on a wing, to a somewhat more ominous note: "Hawks come hunting surf the skies." In short, even on their hunter-killer mission, those "Airborne" birds of war still manage to be, at one level, playful surfer-dudes. What a masterful touch. More, please ...
