Must have missed this, Roy- I don't normally take notice of contests because I have an aversion to them. Congrats anyway. You have succeeded in the alliteration and rhyming well within the boundaries of the contest. I am intrigued to know what bedlam's bag means? Couple of things, Line 6 should read Silently stalking-an adverb describes a verb, not an adjective. Line 7, swallows' spirits sag. Enjoyable read. Faye

Oh MY! This looks like a huge challenge but you've done an amazing job with this. I think you were only required to have one alliteration in each line but you've managed two or more. I'm terribly impressed Roy. Not only did you meet the contest's requirements, but you managed to tell a clear and visual story in the process. Very nice!!

If I"m not mistaken, this poem of yours already won its contest (by a landslide). Having read it a few times now, I can see why. It's very imaginative and fun (actually FUN) to read. The picture pairs well with it.
Way to go!

It's easy to see why you won the Rhyming Alliterisen Contest. I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to vote for this poem. I will keep it for an example to follow when I try write this kind of format. Thank you for sharing.

I really admire people who can write to parameters and discipline in the boundaries of these contests. You are very very talented Roy and its always enjoyable to read other wonderful facets of your talent and your wonderful rhyming verse without the necessity of a religious connotation which incidentally you do so beautifully
thanks for sharing

Five ++. Very well-done by my fellow-birdbrain ... I mean that as a compliment, royowen! By far your best lines are two and five: "Wending wheeling twirl and tag:" in other words, birdflight as a joyous, romping, avian game. I can see those "cluttering clowns" clearly. Then on, on a wing, to a somewhat more ominous note: "Hawks come hunting surf the skies." In short, even on their hunter-killer mission, those "Airborne" birds of war still manage to be, at one level, playful surfer-dudes. What a masterful touch. More, please ...
