Excellent photo of life and water. God created the life by his word, mystery of not seeing to being. Great entry. So many were excited to enter. I'm sure that yours will be on the top entries. flylikeanegle

This three-five-three about water, Genesis, sends us back to the beginning of it all in the deep, dark bottom of the ocean to witness the beginning of what we know now. Nice.

Most certainly, Genesis is an apt title, as water is essential to bring forth life. You have stated volumes in your limited syllables, for which you should be richly rewarded. I suspect this will do well in the contest. All technical syllable count aspects have been met. Wishing you the best of luck.

Lots to think about in this 3-5-3. Amazing what a few syllables can do. This is a unique entry with a nice selection of artwork and color. I wish you well.

This short 3-5-3 poem tackles a connection back to wet origins of life, an interesting topic for a short format, as it contains strong philosophical branches that keep going and going, funny that you use deep... as even simple musing of life begining tends to bring deep thoughts, and deep trouble when two of opposite thoughts come together. I don't know if you were going for just the literal deep water, but the other deep water is there too... that secondary thought that... it almost makes a double redefining of this poem... the first line redefines the second two when read in order, and the third line redefines the first two when read in conjunction... linked. I really liked that realization, as I read it.
I might be thinking you are more deep than you might have been, but oh well, the effect was there on me. Deep water indeed.

Thank you, Turtlestage5, for your wonderful comments and the very generous sixer! I agree with you about the opposing trains of thought - so not only can you end up deep, but in hot water as well (both literally and allegorically speaking). But there weren't enough syllables for that! Your review is very, very much appreciated.

Ah, like clouds forming into something; so does something spring from the deep. I liked the hydrothermal vents of your poem. This was a nice bridge between the world we know and the deep water. Might the deep water house an unseen portal where new species are slowly being introduced into our world? Good luck in the contest. Cheers.

Thank you Benjamin for your good wishes and your kind comments. An interesting suggestion there too, about the "portal". Would need more than 11 syllables to tackle that one!

A very metaphysical offering. The picture speaks to me of vast subterranean caverns and undiscovered regions. This one makes you think.

The words paint a picture of water shooting out of the sea and bringing with it a re birth. I liked the picture and the dark blue background as well. Good luck in the contest and thank you for sharing.

Comment from Dean Kuch
Hydrothermal vents, those cracks or fissures found in the oceans floor along ridges near volcanically active places, areas where tectonic plates are moving apart, ocean basins, and hotspots. Geothermally heated water (water heated by the Earth's magma core) issues from these vents, and many unique forms of oceanic life can be found living near them. Genesis...the beginning of all life forms on Planet Earth.
I really liked this "thinking man's" 3-5-3 contest entry. It addresses a much different sort of topic, and you've created great imagery in your overall presentation. It's not something commonly heard of or spoken about, at least not in the circles I run.
Best of luck to you in the contest.
~Dean

Thank you for your very perceptive review Dean. Many scientists believe now that these vents could very well have been where life on Earth first came into being. If you are a Monty Python fan, you might know Eric Idle's Galaxy song from The Meaning of Life. He reworded it for use on Brian Cox's Wonders of Life program, and it contains a reference to these vents (you can find it on youtube). So I guess that it was an influence here. Thanks for your good wishes as well, much appreciated.

You're very welcome, and all of the Monty Python movies, as well as Monty Python's Flying Circus series on the telly, are some of my all-time favourites. I hope my vote helps you out as well.
Good luck! ~Dean :)

Thanks very much for that too!

You'd do the same for me, right? (You would, wouldn't you?) Heh-heh...

But of course!
