Beautiful poem dealing with a difficult subject with truth. As a poem, it is written very well. I like the wrap around lines which read like a poem themselves down the middle of the poem. Good rhyming, word choice and flow streaming down to the excellent concluding stanza.
I have never dealt with depression my self, but I wish you the best.

Good poem with words that tell such a true story. Good rhyming make it easy to read, and understand. I have never really been too depressed in life, but from anytime of feeling depression I can imagine how it would be to not be able to overcome it.

Thank you my friend for your review, I appreciate your thoughts. It is a horrible thing not being able to overcome this sickness. I've experienced many bouts with it the last 22 years. Have a great weekend. Bill

I suppose casting a person's fear and disappointments on the Lord is the only solution I have found to rid the problem. It worked for me. Thanks for sharing. I found nothing wrong.

Thank you Ben for your comments. From my 22 years of experience with this dreadful disease, I think you're absolutely right. Medications are available, but as another reviewer said, "Pills are only a temporary fix and the Lord is a permanent fixture." Take care of yourself. Bill

I give you six stars for the hope in the LORD that you convey in this! So many experience depression and while some drugs are necessary, they are only a temporary fix! The LORD is the lifter of our heads and He is the one Who will sustains us! My hope is in Him all the day long! This was an enjoyable read and was written very well with a wonderful and very truthful message! Well done!

Thank you Travis for your wonderful review and rating, I really appreciate it. I agree with you, the medications are only temporary. Whereas, God is a permanent fixture. I've had bouts with this monster since the day I was diagnosed with a form of Muscular Dystrohpy (MG) 22 years ago. Have a great weekend my friend. Bill

Great poem about depression, which effects a great number of people. I like the way you portrayed the emotion and offered a solution. I entered this category as well. Good job of fulfilling its requirements

Hi Cedar,
This is a wonderful poem. Thank God I don't suffer from severe depression, although I've had my bouts. It's the young people, I think, who need the most help. A strong faith from childhood is so important. Very nicely done.
Hugs,
Lou

Well penned contest entry paired well with photo. I agree that depression is a dreadful disease. Your meaning rings out loud and clear; both my daughter and I suffer from this... But, with the Lord, our God, we strive to overcome it. Nice progression, rhythm and flow. And, nice use of wording. God Bless, Deb

Thank you Deb for your comments, I appreciate it. I'm so sorry to hear that about you and your daughter. Mine started 22 years ago when I was diagnosed with a form of Muscular Dystrophy (MG). I believe as you do, God is the key to all our problems. Medications are only temporary, but our Lord is a permanent fixture. Take care of yourself and have a great weekend. Your friend, Bill.

I am not a Christian.. but I don't let that stop me from reading good poetry! I feel this is an excellent entry.. just having come off a terrible bout of depression myself I can really appreciate it. Good, solid rhyming couplets make this a strong entry, and I wish you all the best for this contest..

Depression is a terrible illness and one that took years for people to even begin to care about. It has kept me in bed for days until I finally found relief with medication. Your poem well describes the feeling one has with this illness.
