That's my boy. Sorry for delay in reviewing this. I'm glad I had some time to sink into this. I think I know where you are. This is a beautiful piece as only you can write. Meter, presentation and delivery excellent. Many florid phrases that just dance on your tongue.
A+ dude.

Dear Ron, I so loved reading this one. It is both fluid and has great rhyme, wonderful images that pull me into a reflecting mode of the "writer" you write about.
This is beautifully penned and a great submission - good luck.
Thanks for sharing,
Maureen

Hi DragonSkulls :)
Everything about this entry is beautiful.
Perfectly crafted in pen. (Well, on a pc, but you know what I mean!)
No whistles and bells - doesn't need it!
Good luck in the voting booth...
Kindest regards, Debra

Beautifully crafted sonnet and excellent example of superior writing. Lovely imagery, great consonance and end rhymes and perfect iambic meter. Should do very well in this contest. Originally, I was going to submit a "brilliant" haiku, haibun or sonnet. But, the prompt was so fun and invitational I decided "what the heck" why not have some fun, with no restrictions. So, I did. Your approach rewarded all of us with an outstanding piece of writing. Sue

Here's another beautiful poem that makes it so difficult to know how to vote in this contest. There are so many brilliantly talented poets on this site, and this poem is just one piece to indicate that. You've said, so beautifully, what I have felt so often (and isn't that what poetry is supposed to do, after all?) I can't think of a single thing I would suggest you change. It's just lovely, with a universal, haunting message, lyrically perfect, as far as I can tell. Well done.

I love the picture. I love the poem. I wake each day with a desire to write. Some days I can not. But there is always tomorrow. I feel the joy each time I craft with a pen. Great work.

This lovely and well written sonnet could be perceived in a couple of different ways, Ron.
First, it could mean you feel as a poet that art -- along with all of the bells & whistles -- have taken precedence over the written word in many respects. Or, it could simply mean that from a personal viewpoint, you feel you have lost much of your inspiration for creating poetry altogether.
Whatever the intended meaning, it is no secret that your very adept at writing lovely sonnets, and this one is certainly no exception.
A lovely presentation and a beautiful piece of poetic expressionism to go along with it. In reality, don't they go hand-in-hand when done properly?
Good luck. ~Dean

Thank you for the great review, Dean. All this one means is I'm just growing tired of writing poetry. Things use to inspire me. Now it's like I don't even care anymore. I just get in these moods sometimes. It might pick up some day. Who knows? Who cares? Sorry, I lost my job a couple weeks ago and I've just been down in the dumps since then. I really appreciate the generous stars, D. I'm glad you liked the piece. Have a good one.

I know the last thing in the world you wish to hear right now is something like, "Don't worry, things happen for a reason", Ron, so I'm not going to say anything like that. Just know I'm in you corner, and I know where your coming from.
Be well, buddy. ~Dean

This is a beautiful poem, both in presentation but also in writing style and message. Your use of alliteration, vivid imagery, and thoughtful reflection makes this a special poem. Loved the peacefulness within, yet felt the unsettling sadness deeply. Powerful words. Emotional write. Well done!(If biographical, you could credit it as such!)
Best wishes in the contest. Thanks for sharing this with me.

Perhaps some day the sun shall rise again
and wake the poet's will to craft in pen.
When inspiration leaves and the pen cannot write, the author cannot think, the poet cannot rhyme.... there is great loss.
Beautiful sonnet to the loss of the muse, and the hope of more poems to come.
Excellent.
