Once again your outlined a compelling biography of abuse and survival. Like you say so clearly, it helps to understand the underlying circumstances that caused the developments. You tell the tale very well. A story needing told. I will continue look for more.

Thank you Linda.
I appreciate your review.
I wrote this chapter because some asked how such abuse could happen.
I guess they were happy then because they didn't know what the future might bring.

This is yet another revealing and heartbreaking story from the author here. There is also healing in these words. God bless you and well done.

Knowledge brings understanding as your title states, but it takes someone with a strong will, faith and fortitude to be able to forgive.
I enjoyed your story in the fact you are able to write about it openly and share with strangers who are part of a special family here on FS.
I look forward to more of your writing. John

Hi, Shirley,
Such a picture of happiness and promise. So sad when it fades away, leaving everyone in the wake to ponder what happened?
Medications can really mess with a person's head. Having been on some meds in the past when I worked through the bad stuff with my youngest son, I can attest to it.
I think there comes a time in all our lives when we decided to either overcome, OR let the black hole of despair take over. It is such a horrible place to be.
Abuse--- there just is not, can never be a good enough excuse for it. Everyone has hardships in life, but we can't go around blaming others for what went wrong, and then physically take out on innocents
I think something inside people who do such horrible things are just broken people. Still----no excuse.
You were such a brave little girl, which made you into the strong woman you have become. Very fortunate for your hubby and children, you are able to show them you did survive---that one can come out on the other side of adversity.
Good for you, my friend. This was an excellent recollection of events.
~~ Typo
I knew life would not [bide](bode) well for me.
~~ Need space after this line.
Now our abuser, had free reign.
Cheers & Blessings

Thanks Jax.
I appreciate your review and suggestions.
I wrote this chapter to explain some of the background of my parents.
Not to excuse them but to say I now understand some of the reasons why life unfolded as it did.
To satisfy the curiosity , and questions, asked by some reviewers.
