Well, I must tell you, kiwisteveh, while it is, indeed, nonsensical and very silly, it's also quite good. I could see why it was picked as the winner for the contest.
I caught a strong Dr. Suess-like influence here, or perhaps it's just me. I'm a huge fan of Suess and have every single book he's ever written...
Very well done!

Thanks, dean.
It is a great honour to be mentioned in the same breath as the late, great Dr Seuss.

Absolutely mind blowing. Wonderful characters and a lot of animation. It reminded me of Enid Blyton and took me back to my childhood. However, I think the vocabulary is a little difficult for most children.

Yes I mainly write for grown-up children, but I'll run this past my 5-year old granddaughter when she comes to stay in a couple of days.
Did Enid Blyton write any verse I wonder - I guess you're just referring to the funny characters - maybe Noddy and Bigears could have fitted into the little flat as well....

Steve, this is a wonderful, magical, imaginative, lyrical creation. This cast of strange people might be saved for future use, next time you feel this way. Well done.

Thank you!
Wow-Wow and Grumpy are alternative names for our two cats - no reason why they might not appear in another poem one day.

Hi, Glen.
yes, I sneaked a win here by a narrow margin. I have always had some facility with rhyme and meter, not to mention a liking for nonsense poems....

Very funny, I read it a few times and it has the perfect name and I like the artwork. Congratulations on the win this is a very creative piece. Thanks for giving me a good evening laugh; could be a children's book?

Thanks, Mal
I have a few pieces now that might work in a children's book - I'll work out how to do this publishing thing one day.

It may be nonsense but it is an excellent read. I enjoyed it very much. It must have taken some to come up with this one. An excellent post. Your poem doesn't rhyme but then neither does Grumpy's old mother. Good work

This is a very cute poem. I loved how you worked the "non-sense" in your poem. The tone is appropriate throughout. The picture is cute.

You made me think about a bunch of friends I had sometime ago. One was into sci-fi and aliens, the other into fantasy, and the other ones were always talking about different stuff like superheroes and many conspiracy theories.

Mum made me take a weta to school when I was about 8 . It tore the paper off the jar and started for me...left it on the path and fled

Well maybe you'd better not read my next poem then - it will be real nightmare territory....

This is a fun, nonsense poem. I have only attempted one so far, but you have given me inspiration to try another. This is fun. Well done!

Thank you - by all means give it a go - there is a certain freedom in not having to make sense - allows you to focus more on rhyme and meter and playing with words.
