I like the way you incorporated the movie
Casablanca ( one of my favorites) into this
brief love story. Also love the way

This is great fun!!!

Casablanca is one of my all time favorite movies and its reference here in your short story brought all sorts of lovely nuances to your tale.

I loved your closing lines:
"Yes," she said through her new grin, "Then we'll always have Casablanca."

    Thank you for reading and reviewing my 100 word dash entry, Casablanca. It is probably the best movie ever made, and it's nice to know that you found the story appealing in large part because of the Casablancan references. The tribute was very heartfelt. A chance meeting makes a good save to a miserable situation. Casablanca didn't end too well, so let's hope this new couple's romance will turn out better than Bogie's did.

I've got this one on laser disk (Can you believe it?) I had it on Beta also. I think I'll need to get it on VHS as soon as it's completely unattainable. This was a nice play on that film. Great use of iconic dialogue. Nicely fit into a hundred words. Wow!

    Thanks so much, Bill. Hey, I had it on VHS, wore it out, then went to dvd. I've seen it on the big screen. If you haven't then get thee to a revival house asap! lol

A kiss is just a kiss. Or is it? Sounds like the lovers in this story have just found each other for the first time. Though the references seem a little out-dated now. People in their 30's and younger wouldn't recognize John Lennon and might not know the movie Casablanca.

    Hey, who said they were in their 30's or younger? lol I'm not, so I didn't really think of them as such, but perceptions are in the eye of the reader. Right? That may be the best thing about writing. Others have said he should look like Bogie. Who knows?

this is very well written, mystery writer, you did an excellent job writing this short story about the girl who found her bogie and went to the movie, i enjoyed reading it, good luck in the contest.
