No it doesn't matter in the least. What a beautiful story. How I wish someone loved me enough to cradle me when a storm raged all around. I read this story and of course my thoughts turned to Carrie Fisher and her mother dying a day apart because they couldn't bear to live without the other. Wonderful story. Sincerely Anne.

I enjoyed reading this. The son thought his parents had been struck by lighting and come to find out they died of natural causes due to they didn't want to live without the other. Now to me that's true love.

Thank you very much for your very perceptive and kind words. I see the greatest love stories when I watch an elderly couple holding hands, living with devotion and commitment for decades. This is one of my favourites. Thanks again. ingrid

This story was inspired by a member's loss of his wife of 60 years, Dom Robles. Somewhere deep in his portfolio is the story of how they grew old together, and she suffered major kidney problems that in the end killed her. But there may have been a 'deliberate' attempt to help her along the way by hospital staff--she was suffering. But Dom raged against the hospital and blamed himself for not being in the room when she died. His pain was all-consuming, and as I have lost my husband, parents and several friends, I could both empathize and try to help him to survive both his guilt (foolish, considering he himself administered dialysis to his Rosita for years at home) and his grief, which is highly personal in every person's life. He still writes on FS and this has become his most important social network. At 87 he is waiting to die to be with his Rosita.

All that I knew and felt from this man is in the story. I'm, glad you felt the emotion, as this, though fiction is dedicated to him and written through my own grief and understanding of his loss.

A beautiful commentary on how love not only endures, but grows deeper over time. I hope my own story ends like that. Although I'm not all that old, I've been with my husbands for quite a few years, and I could see my husband and myself in those characters. I think that's the ultimate compliment for a writer: having readers relating so closely with the words that they can find themselves in the characters.

What a charming response and generous six star review. This story was inspired by a member here, Dom Robles who lost his wife in tragic errors in hospital and his deep despair--he didn't want to live without her, and after fifty years and no children, I used his sorrow, his life joys to write this story. It is one of my favourites.

This is an amazingly well written story, very descriptive and how you showed the past and then the present very clever concept of the idea. I also love the idea of the story and how you were able to do it in less than 1,00 words, indeed your a talented person for not just keeping your word limits but also containing the required words, congratulations keep up the good work, can't wait to read other stories written by you.

Wow, you're deep into my portfolio. Ironically, this story was published in the August issue of the Cambridge citizen, a local paper that concentrates on the arts.

    Thanks for reading.

I love word weaves and I loved this story. The connection between Molly and Sam was beautiful. My parents have been married for 64 years and they still demonstrate the same affections as your couple do. Very nicely written.

This was inspired by a fellow member, Dom Robles who also lpst hos wife after fifty years and his desire to have his own life end.

You are very lucky to have witnessed such a love in your own home. Thank you for the stars and kind words.

What a wonderful love story. I'm sure many couples who love each other like Sam and Molly did, would have the same desire, to die together, so that one wouldn't have to mourn the other's passing.
I like the descriptions of the approaching storm, which is very naturally done. Molly's fear also comes through in a natural and realistic manner, as many people who are affected by lightening would respond in this manner.
Love this story.

It was inspired by a man here on site, Dom Robles, married for a miilion years. He was administering to his wife, giving her dialysis and caring for her in the most intimate way. They never had children They were together for 50 years or more. It was just the two of them. She was taken to the hospital and he believes they incorrectly administered the drugs and killed her.

I had chatted with him briefly, months apart, but hen I read his painful story I responded and said to him, among other things, in the end it doesn't matter how a person dies, it was inevitable for this poor sick woman. But my words comforted him and now he is just sitting andwaiting to die. He even told me that someone would notify me when he passed. Yes, that kind of love is a true love story.

Very compelling love story amidst the storm. I thought this was a perfect combination. The character development was extremely well done for a short story. The couples devotion to each other was so touching it made me cry, and the storm rising around them gave me goosebumps. I thought this piece was beautifully written.

Thank you. Do you know, when my fingers stopped clicking on the keyboard, I too, began to cry.As if something had been ripped out of me in the telling of a single tale.

Good story! Well written. This is so real about long marriages and old age. I can't really think of any way to improve the story. It left me with tears in my eyes.

Wow, what a emotionally charged and brilliantly told story of two people's love for each other. Really powerfully written and absolutely breath-taking. I am absolutely awed at the use of descriptive words and the twist that you managed to get into this story.

Well done and good luck in the contest.
