I am going to run out of six's if I keep reading your poetry! This is a lovely, traditional fairy poem with all the aspects of fairy-lore written with beautiful rhyme and flow with a lovely brisk pace.
I particularly love the use of the word 'darkling' in the line "Caper through the darkling glen", I had not heard this word before and I have added it to the list of words i would definetly like to use in the future.
Long live fairies!!!

Thanks for the sixer and the very kind words. This popped out of the blue, as I recall and practically wrote itself. I recall it was the first time I had a poem nominated for Poem of the Month but it only came second..
Thomas hardy wrote a poem called 'The Darkling Thrush'. You are right it is a lovely evocative word - so much better than simply 'dark'

Thank you for taking the time to delve into my portfolio.
This sweet little piece is not really typical of my work, is it?

I like this it flows well. It is constructed, organized and it zings. One can picture the creatures playing and frolicking. Very well written.

Been fossicking through my portfolio? Or did you stumble upon this some other way?
Thanks for the review anyway. This poem came out of nowhere - not at all typical of my work.

This is a work of art! It's truly amazing! I've never read anyone's work as good as this in this generation! This work deserves a 5-star rating--even 10!

Thank you for the 'rave' review, and welcome to FanStory - I've been offline for a while, moving house (and country and job, and lifestyle!)
A little puzzled as to how you tracked the poem down as it's been archived for a while.... Glad you enjoyed

Thank you - what a wonderful compliment!
This piece is a little unusual for me - I usually write more humorous and light-hearted stuff, so this 'pretty' one came a little bit out of the blue, and then surprised me by being nominated for poem of the month...

In my opinion this poem should have won.It is simply gorgeous and deserves an award. From first line to last you paint a beautiful image of the 'fairy world.'Very well written in form and content.

Thank you.
My poem and the winning one are like chalk and cheese, but the winner was certainly extremely powerful and with an important message, which trumped my 'light and fluffy' on this occasion...
I was pleased even to be nominated for Poem of the Month and thrilled to get into second place. First would have been better though!

Wow! What beautiful imagery. The rhyming is well done. The cadence of the poem makes it a good read.
Congratulations poet.

Congratulations on winning second place in the Poem Of The Month competition! I can't imagine why you didn't get first, but as I didn't vote... This is an excellent and delightful poem that makes me smile and admire your facility with words and rhyme in equal measure.
This is the first six rating I have given since joining the site as yours is the first piece I have read that I consider to be word perfect. Well done!

Fantastic work, kiwisteveh.
I can see why this poem has been nominated for poem of the month. It's a wonderful quatrain which has a lovely beat which goes up and down (I don't know how to explain that properly, sorry). I love the imagery too, it's very reminiscent of old childhood fairytales.
Good luck in the contest.

Thanks so much for the lovely review - this was an unusual piece for me - a rare foray into writing 'pretty' verse so I tried to fill it chock full of sweetness and dreamy mystical stuff. It won't win the contest, but it is holding down second spot behind a very strong piece....
My first nomination for PoM
Thanks again.

Great rhymes and rhythm, Steve. I love all the fey images, of "green-clad imps with cheeky smiles,"
That's the kind of fairy land everyone dreams of and wishes existed. Fun read. Good luck in the contest.

I was surprised when this was nominated for poem of the month - it is not my usual style and was written on a whim. It is holding onto second place, but will be (deservedly) beaten by a more serious poem.
Thanks for the review.
