John, I am so sorry. How heartbreaking that must have been for all your family. What I do like, though, is Kristen is still very much alive in your hearts, and still very much a part of your life. I loved that part that Kristen hasn't finalized her sprinkling of love dust on your son's relationship, that was such a lovely thought. You were blessed with an angel, my friend, and she awaits you in Heaven. God bless and keep you and all your family safe, my friend. xx Sandra

Merry Christmas jmdg1954! May I say that "The Timecard," is a most touching story and well written. Although little Kristen lived for only 45-minutes with her father and mother..."She shall live forever with God." I've read most of your work and I say to you, "keep on trucking!" God bless you and family, and may the year 2015 be "your best ever."
Respectfully,

Thank you for taking the time to read The Time Card. We continue to visit her grave on or around her birthday and Christmas each year. She lives in our heart forever. John

This is the first time I have read this, and as a parent, I sat here with tears covering my face before I was finished. The emotion that this brought out was intense. Thank you for sharing this very personal time.

Gracie, thank you so much for sharing the emotional effect my story had on you. Our little angel has done a wonderful job watching over our three children and now has the added responsibility of our grandchildren.
Thanks for stopping to read and share with me. John

This is a story that is worth telling for two main reasons. Firstly it tells the story of how you as a father are still grieving the loss of your first born and the steps you have taken in dealing with such an acute loss. Secondly, and I think a compelling reason, is that you help to raise awareness of the condition that afflicted your child. I can not even start to fathom what it must have felt like, to lose her.
As fot the manner and emotions this piece, not only invokes in the reader, but from the author as well is truly inspirational and sympathetic. A really superb piece, my friend.

Thank you for sharing your personal story. It was very moving with every word you wrote. It can be hard to get the words out when a love one has moved on to be with God. She had her purpose in life, that you witnessed in that short period of time. You will see her again. RJ

Thank you RJ... I'm glad you enjoyed the story of my little angel. I know I'll see her once again. But in the meantime, she has work to do watching over my grandkids, her niece and nephew.
Thanks again, John

A perfect story for Christmas. A moment that is etched in your brain because birth is just that. Special. The title of the story was at first a bit weird, but after reading it I could understand. Really well written. Good luck with the contest. Les

I'm back from my 48 hour whirlwind Christmas trip to Florida and over my 80 hour work weeks of the past month and will relax with my coffee and computer to catch up on FS.
Very well written posting and well worth continuous reviewing for 2014. John

What a touching story. I'm glad I stopped by and read this. It had me totally immersed from beginning to end. "Suffer the children to come unto me..."
Sometimes, I suspect writing is a medicine for the soul. Merry Christmas.

Okay, I have to admit that I read this and then had to go away and have a good cry before I could come back and review. This is one of the most touching pieces I have read on this site.
What a beautiful tribute you pay to your daughter each year and what a testament to the faith you have.
I sincerely believe as you do that families will be reunited on the other side and that those that have gone before are watching over us. Your precious little girl must have been one of the truly great souls who only needed to be in this life for a short moment. You put it so eloquently. God bless.

JMDG, thank you for sharing this deep part of you with us. It wasn't an easy write, I'm sure. I felt your pain and your love for your little angel, Kristen. May you and your family continue to enjoy her blessings from heaven to you.

Hello Jmdg1954,
Lovely piece of Spiritual Non-Fiction!
It beautifully depicts the emotional love and feelings of parents for their baby Kristen who lived in this mortal world only for forty-five minutes in December 1981, but is still deeply missed and remembered as a guardian angel for making their lives rich with other children and grandchildren.
Wording is simple and impressive.
Spontaneous and captivating flow from top to bottom with lively imagery.
Marvelous! Good Luck!
