Your poem is intense! It so terrible what is happening there. The word choice packs so much emotion in just a few lines. "Squirms" and "burns" are excellent word choices as politicians look for words to explain this. Very nicely done.

Earthquakes, cyclones, floods, and bushfires are becoming everyday occurrences.. life has become so precarious since COVID.
People have lost their homes, a life's worth of memories reduced to ash, and it upsets me to think of all the wildlife that perished too.
Our leaders need to focus on these issues and stop spending billions on wars that pollute the air, water, and soil.

I guess it was not interesting enough for fanstory members.
I read that firefighters were left without water in the end.. it just looks like governments want disasters to become tenfold worse.
