I use my fingers! But the humor in "without taking my socks off" works for me. And it's so funny. You made something as simple as counting syllables feel like an everyday struggle. So funny and so enjoyable to read!

Thanks Michael for your spin for my contest entry.
A Japanese speaking friend told me that "haiku" has three sounds but in English it has two syllables. Of course, chasm and prism have two sounds in English but only count as one syllable!
