This is a very cute story and a perfect example of children overhearing a remark and interpreting it in their own way. I've had the pet conversation many times~I love animals and had pets all my life, but it always ends the same--everyone wants them, but I'm the one who ends up caring for them and the messes they make. This was fun--well done!

How cruel! Lol. They have deprived their children of two hampsters, and LC a feast! This was a lovely little story of life at home for your grandchildren. I'm sure you have loads of stories to tell. I'm enjoying them. :)) Sandra xx

They do provide me with a lot of stories and did my boys while they were growing up. I write the story that comes to mind. The last two on the little girls just happened so they got top billing. Thank you for the support.

Hello Barbara.
This is an excellent story, well told. I laughed out loud several times during the reading. Drawing the comparison of a new hamster and New Hampshire is really quite funny. The girls were adamant about their choices, but it appears those didn't work out for them. It looks like LC will just have to be content with whatever comes out of a can or bag. Somewhere in the world there are two very lucky hamsters.

So true. Both Eleanor and Charlotte have minds of their, but knowing their parents I'm not at all surprised. Eleanor is the worst, but she's hilarious how she does it. Thank you for the support.

Hello Barbara,
I so wish I had a six left for this. This was absolutely hilarious. I can see the whole scene playing out before me. Kids seem to hear what they want to hear, but I can certainly see how they could believe a new hamster was in the works. How disappointing for those little gals. I'm with you, kids need a dog. They're great companions and it helps teach them responsibility. Well done gal. This was so enjoyable.
Have a blessed evening.
Tom

Thank you for the kind review. They just lost a cat, Max a few weeks ago. They still have LC.

This poor family has my sympathy. There is no hurt like the hurt of a child that thinks he/she is getting something they truly desire, only to find out that it is not going to happen. I also pity the poor parent who has to suffer from being the mean and evil parent that is denying his poor child/children something they truly desire. As sad as the story is for the girls, it is at the same time an amusing and entertaining tale that I thoroughly enjoyed reading.

you're writing is always very well done and I enjoy very much listening to it. Your sentence structure your paragraph in your punctuation are all very good which makes it easy to listen to. May you have a wonderful day and may God bless you.

I loved this cute story, Barbara.
I remember when my granddaughters got a guinea lig ( not a hamster but close enough lol)
It took forever to talk their Mom and Dad into getting one. They also had a cat and a dog to worry about. But... for whatever reason they gave in and the family love affair with the new guinea pig was born It was quite the experience but he was in the family for years. Did the girls ever get their dream answered? I hope so. Lol

Kids say the darndest things, don't they? Especially when they hear what they want to hear.

Cute story. Well told and written. The girls would've been devastated had they gotten a hamster and lost it to LC....

I think it's a cute little story that illustrates the innocent perseverance of children. You have a great word play on that new hampster, New Hampshire similarity, and it's fun listening to the girls refuse to accept that mom did not a new hampster. Nice job with the dialogue here, and we get something of the family dynamics as well, as dad and mom try to keep the peace with the kids. estory

This is a great little story that you told so well, and I perfectly understand the family is busy. But I'm an old sucker for happy endings and I so wanted the girls to get two hamsters. :-) Thanks for sharing.
