Ha! Ha!
That would've freaked me out! I could see this happening in the near future. You kept me entertained throughout the story. Thank you for sharing.
God bless,
Steve

My pleasure.

This is really a funny story. Haha. I was going to give the same advice after seeing the things you bought but a faceless advisor is a little disconcerting. I hope this is a piece of fiction but could be reality.
Well done.

An excellent entry for the Checking You Out writing prompt. LOL I would dismantle that register with a hammer lol I absolutely HATe self-checkouts and refuse to use them. My husband thinks they are great, so I let him pay at the storem or better yet, I order online and pick up the order because we never get changed and they deliver it right to our car! It avoids all the stress. Very nicely written and humorous to boot!

Thank you so much. I also hate self checkout and have my groceries delivered to my door--so much easier than dealing with crowds and AI-LOL!

Brilliant. Apart from needing some cheering today, I feel sure other reviewers will love this, too. You convey the customer's irritation, your character's embarrassment, and her emotions well. The story opens the reader's imagination, based on one's own experience with self-serve annoyances. The unmentionable medical disturbance was dealt with delicately. No grammar or 'blank spot' issues that would have the reader wondering about your meaning to be dealt with. I thouroughly enjoyed this tale, but what a waste of Bailey's; tut tut!

My daughter and I love the self checkouts, that way we can pack the bags how we want, but if they do start talking back to us, well that could be another thing altogether. Great read, loved this as I chuckled along with every line.
Good luck in the contest.

cute, cute! and funny. except it's not. AI is not anything to laugh at, or to want; I don't care how much it helps with advertising. It will have, if it doesn't already, too much power over us.
I'm assuming this was fiction. I don't think the automatic checkout has any personality --yet. :) This was a funny scenario.

How wonderfully imaginative! It would never surprise me with AI if this started to happen. The dialogue is excellent and it's not difficult to imagine oneself in the supermarket with you, temper rising and, then, enough's enough! No errors found and a very pleasing read of perfect length. Also a great contender. Well done and good luck! Debbie

Self checkouts can be obnoxious for sure! I can sense the frustration here!! I would say they need to find a new grocery store for sure! Haha. Best of luck.

6 without hesitation! So often find myself yelling inside while I wait for the person with the non-English to try to resolve my issues...after million prompts I just want a person, and Voila', a person who I can't hear and doesn't speak my language. Must be old!!!! I avoid self checkout and look for OLDER cashiers. I am like the lady who went postal at the computer store (and I consider myself fairly sane). Sorry for responding with a rant, but OH BOY you triggered feelings! Esther
