Beth,
Congrats on your win in the Faith Flash contest. Your brilliantly written metaphorical story about each of us crossing a vast ocean with a remote and a super guidance system speaks to the divine gift of faith and our need to trust the super guidance system to navigate the ocean of life till one day we'll arrive safely upon the shore of eternal life and everlasting peace.
God Bless,
Eugene

Hi Beth,
This is a well written quick essay with a strong extended metaphor. You use a metaphor that is often used but make it sound new. I like the remote that is faith. We so often have another kind of remote rule our life.
Faith is the only true remote.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Congrats on winning the contest
Have a wonderful weekend.

This is my favorite part of your analogy:
They can dive for treasure and put all their energy on material things, but the added weight often sinks their boats.
I think that is such an awesome description of people operating under their own power. It can also be described in the negative, not necessarily treasure, maybe garbage, sinking their boat with that.
Great metaphor for faith! Julie.

It;s a very interesting and illuminating analogy for Faith and how it guides and directs our life journey if we choose to use it - clearly and precisely narrated

This essay, The Remote, tells the allegorical tale of people trying to ride the waves on their own, with no connection to a higher power for support. It is not recommended.

Oh, wow, what a powerful piece this is. I loved how you used the boat metaphor. It's hard steering sometimes but a little faith offers a more even keel. Good luck with the contest. I think you have a winner with this one.

I can buy into this message for I have made a few trans-Pacific transitions, including three through the Bay of Alaska where calm sea could become monstrous thirty foot demons in 6-12 hours.

Thank you Tom. Storms at sea are scary. The only one I've been in was on a cruise ship in the gulf when we were in a hurricane. I appreciate the review. I hope the metaphor or parable worked for you.

I, too, believe that our Lord will bring us safely to shore. It is important for us to know we can call on Him and to trust in His ways. Your have explained very well your faith in God.
