Hi Debi,
I don't know Verna Cole Mitchell, but your introduction urges me to look her up. Terrific way you've put her in rhyme.
Steve and Ruth Smith live in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. They have a log cabin now, but back in the late 70's formed the Zion Mountain Folk based in Hawaii. They still perform concerts with guitar, banjo and hammered dulcimer. I wonder if Verna has heard of them? They were a big part of my early Christian walk. I bought their album, "Grass Roots Music", and taught the songs to my Youth Choir at Grand Bay Baptist Church.

Her music, writing, never bored
Old movies, list goes on and on" ... except for Leon, she sounds a lot like me!

Oh Pam, I just looked, thinking that I'd find your birthday in the next few months and I do not have it, and I am so sorry! I just assumed it had to be in one of the upcoming months of the list Helen gave me. How did we get this far into the year w/o me realizing? Please tell me I haven't missed it. And if I have, I will make it up to you, as you are so special to me and you know that. '

It's okay, Debi. You had already asked me. I am not comfortable reading about myself. I appreciate the thought. I know you care, but I am a private person. It took me a long time on FS before I even used my real name!! You are very welcome for the replies about Verna. You are remarkable for doing all of this.

I do understand, Pam. I am a horrible receiver of gifts, whether it be a physical or virtual one, like all those birthday poems for my birthday. I get kinda weirded out and don't know how to act. Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate them so much, but I have a hard time accepting gifts. Yet I sure love giving them. I am one big kid at Christmas, so lol, I do understand. If you ever change your mind, please let me know. Writing these has taken away from my other writing but by far the most rewarding I have ever done because our posts are soon forgotten, but to know these are important to at least one is a great feeling.
