Hi Lisa
Lovely words and a deserved win . Hard to lose your mum at 15 as you then had to navigate life without her guidance and love
A heartfelt poem and I am sure your Mum loved it
Well done Cheers Chrisx

Thanks for your nice words Chris. I know how much you miss your own mother. I hope Mother's Day was a gentle time to share good memories.

Congratulations on your win. It is a sad and heartbreaking poem that you lost your mom at a time when a teenager needs her the most.
Very well written and emotional words. Best wishes
Mary

Thank you. Yes, it did make my teen years directionless, but made me very close to my father.

Mother's Day can truly bring sunshine to many moms, even if they are in nursing homes. Many elderly people do not always get company. You touched my heart when you mention about your mom giving birth to you.

Sad and poignant this rhyming poem speaks of the love lost early to your mother. I love the cherished way you tell your mom how you miss her yet love her in your own special way. Thank you for sharing this melancholy piece of cherishable moments you would have shown her if she had lived past your 15th birthday.

Beautifully said. It is a blessing to have our mothers until old age. But some have lost their dear mothers much too young. Even last week, friends have lost their mother suddenly. It's the sudden separations that make it so much worse with no time to say goodbye.
Best wishes in the contest!

All moms should be remembered on Mother's Day...those who are blessed to have their moms with them are fortunate indeed that they can express their love face to face. My own mom died in 1987 and I still can't quite believe it's been that long. Your mono-rhymed stanzas were perfect. Your from-the-heart words touched my heart!

I think this is a very touching, poignant little verse in memory of your dear Mother. I also think that Mother's Day is a very difficult occasion for a lot of people for all manner of reasons and the fact that you are still able to wish well to those who celebrate, despite your loss, is highly commendable. I would just question the last line of the first stanza which doesn't quite make sense to me. Should it read: It's 55 years that we've been apart. Also, last stanza: Moms (without the apostrophe). Good luck in the contest. Debbie

Thanks for your review, Debbie. I appreciate your comments and thank you for the line change suggestion and punctuation correction, both of which i have implemented. It seems I've been excused for using 'forgot' instead of the more correct 'forgotten', haha.

A wistful poem about a mother lost way too early in your life. But clearly in the time you had together she taught you the meaning of love. And you will always miss her. Beautifully written.

Even with the passing of time we never forget those we were once very close to. An endearing write.

Just one suggestion for you:

now Mother's Day (leaves) a hole in my heart.

Love Dolly x
