Anyone who can make me laugh this hard at 5 AM when I have been up all night, trying to catch up, deserves my vote and a six. Holy Smokers (sorry God) this is awesome. I cannot wait to get back in the booth to vote. I cracked up especially hard at the Santa Clause scolding, God pretty much telling you to mind your own business was hilarious, the list that He kept referring to, OMGosh it was just way too good. I have an aunt Mabel that just passed away at 99, two weeks before her birthday. Now I know what Betty White must have felt like. But my favorite was when God said see you soon. Then my husband woke up, three rooms down the hall, thru the walls mind you. That is how loud I was laughing. Wayne I just love you and I could listen to God talk to you for hours. If you are not in comedy, seriously consider a stand up gig. I would pay to hear this all over again!!
Encore, PLEASE!!!

And thank you for the six stars!

Wayne,
This is well written from God's POV. I'm not sure I would have punctuated your list items. I think I would have used colons rather than em dashes and semicolons rather than sentence fragments.

chapter 1, verse 7. -- Aren't these usually capped? Wouldn't God know that? :-) After all, it's HIS book.

I think sentence fragments take too much abuse. Often it is style. And when the meaning is clear, the rules should go. I think rules of grammar should be aimed at clarity, and when that goal is met, then the rule is unnecessary. But then, I often color outside the lines.

A very cleverly woven letter. Solemn yet witty.
I particularly liked the reference to a butterfly flapping its wings with unintended and misunderstood consequences.
"I'll see you soon." What a way to end a letter from God. You have made me giggle. Thank you. Jacqueline

I absolutely love this! I don't think you've crossed into sacrilege at all. This was much like what I was thinking of writing, but I bow to this wonderful instead. We know God has a senses of humor - He created me !
- capitalize 'my' in My saving grace and anywhere that speaks of God
- chagrined

I think I just read the winner of the Letter From God contest. It helps that I agree with every point and wish that I had made them in my own letter!!! Actually, I haven't written (received) my letter yet, but, wow, you place the bar high. Sometimes we tend to forget that Good and only Good comes from God; evil is a false belief. I am not saying Evil does not exist, only that it is the opposite of perfect good.
Great job and I could not find anything I would change. Well, maybe one sentence: I won't here get into the geo-political realities. - The whole placement of 'here' in the sentence seems 'bulky' and then it appears again in the next sentence. Such a minor observation that I hesitate to make it.
Good luck in the contest. ann

Thank you for the six stars! And for your very kind words.
I thought about the placement of 'here', and decided to buck convention just because I am probably a contrarian by nature. (smiley face here)
Thanks again.

Wayne, I wish I had a six star left in my knapsack, but I'm sorry I don't.
Your letter from God himself was both serious and whimsical, which made it enjoyable to read.
You made numerous home run points.
Best of luck in the contest.
John

I thoroughly enjoyed your humor in this piece and your Scripture-based comments from God. You list many things we all pray for: healing, current events, natural disasters. The only one I didn't see is salvation for loved ones. I liked how reassuring you made God to be and yes, He is in charge of everything and we can't imagine how a butterfly's flutter could change the whole world. Best wishes in the contest!
One word choice comment: (also in that sentence I'd say 'oversized')
stocking on the mantle (mantel)

And for the corrections!

Exceptional. Outstanding writing. There is seriousness, and there is wisdom, spiritual realities are spoken of unashamedly, but you have kept it from being dictatorial with touches of wit and humour. Very best wishes for your entry in the contest.

This was my evening giggle. You have such a wise God who tries to help you make sense of your world. Then he says he'll see you soon and nearly gives you a heart attack.

I enjoyed your contest entry, Wayne. I read nothing that
should be taken as an offense. No one really knows how
God mw0uld respond in reality. This seemed to be more
of a conversation between you and God. You included
several important words/phrase/beliefs which make it
applicable to you and His master plan.
Thanks for sharing and best wishes in the contest, Jan
