Some great tips on what readers are looking for in a good story. How ro keep them interested till the last page. I know as a reader I do not want to work out the plot too early. Well written G, thanks for sharing your knowledge with us all. Cheers

This is well organized and a very good lesson in writing that will help all of us with our writing. The best line is at the end. Be sure all the threads are tied up.

This is a great article and very informative. It's true that a story needs to be logical and make sense, as well as true to the characters. As a reader,I have a pet peeve. It bugs me when a writer pulls some totally unknown character out of thin air to be the villain. I hope you'll write more articles such as this one. I very much enjoyed it.

Many thanks for the great response to this piece. Yeah, I get that. Misdirection is one thing but there has to be a logic to it and hints. G

Your post as an educational treat for us is invaluable (I think I used this word correctly). Not only did you explain the points, you provided examples.
Thank you for taking time to share this with us.
Cheers. John

These are really good points and, in my trilogy, I have tried misdirection. It is the balance i am a bit worried about lol. Again, great piece. Thank you for sharing and have a great day.

Thankyou so much for the lesson. I shall file this one away for my next attempt at writing a book, or perhaps improving the one I am currently writing.
What a generous person you are to share these handy hints with all of us.

Great essay. Thank you for sharing. I found this quite interesting to read, and full of great information. I usually don't read too many stories, but have started lately, and this will be useful in my reading different story posts her on this site. I enjoyed this piece.

Thank you for sharing all this information about how to keep the reader engaged and anxious to turn the next page. It is interesting that we as readers enjoy it when the story keeps us guessing and takes us in unexpected directions, but we aren't so fond of having that happen in our real life experiences.

A well written, interesting and educational examination of the sometimes overlooked or missing elements of story.
As an emerging writer it can seem a task too insurmountable and so many give up the quest.
Thank you for offering some light on this topic.
Blessings

I have started reading stories and then given up in disgust when things drag on too long or are plainly confusing. I do love good stories with surprise endings if they are done right.
