You are so sweet Linda! I did smoke and tried numerous times to quit, so 2020, I said that's it. Then the Pandemic hit, but I already had 3 months done so I fought the good fight and have been smoke free for three years. Worst thing to quit. I still crave them..... So I have been a sweet nut lately too, so that has to go. Six out of nine people in my family are diabetics and never ate much before this year. Ugh! So we can cheer each other on! Deal?
Thanks my sweet friend for the fun review and I wish you all the best in the New Year! Love ya too my lovely friend!

I think the word resolutions is silly. They also cause stress and guilt. They fit into the 'I'm gonna' category. I think just do it...or not. Actually just do what is going to make you a better person, one you can love.

Hi Liz, whether we call it New Years resolutions or New Years change yourself for the better, my poem was just meant to be fun. It had to be a holiday limerick so I picked it to go w New Years instead of Christmas, hoping that people would just see the humor in it, but not be offended by it.
I'm not too much on resolutions either, but three years ago, I made one and stuck w it for the entire time, even tho we ended up w the pandemic, so it worked for me and now I am three years smoke free.
Thanks for reading and reviewing my limerick'.

I read this as a limerick not realizing it was purposeful for a contest.
Nicely composed. Best of luck in the contest and do all the smoking, eating and drinking in the next week before those resolutions kick in.
Cheers, John

Haha! John, this was meant for others, except I could eat better, so that is my resolution this coming year. Right before 2020 I quit smoking if I had known that the pandemic was coming I doubt I would have, so I am now three years smoke free, thanks for your Awesome review my dear friend -

OMG I so relate to this. Everything I like and everything that makes me feel good I can't do anymore. Their bad for me. As I grow older I pursue intellectual pleasure. Their not the same things. ;-) Rickie

My dear friend, I quit right before New Years 2020. Had I known the pandemic was coming, I doubt I would have. And every time someone lights up, I want to tackle them for that little cancer stick. Lol! But three years later, I still want one so bad. Oh well, I made it thru the pandemic, I can't give up now. So my point is, I hear you my friend, Boy do I hear you!
Enjoy your life and when the time is right, you will know it.
Thanks for the awesome comments my sweet friend! God Bless and Merry Christmas!

LOL, yes while this is a humorous post, it brings the reality of a new beginning and a chance to start the new year off fresh. I love the accompanying cartoon. It reminds me of doctors visits I've had before, but finally realized they were in my best interests. Thanks for the chuckle.

Your poem gave me a laugh. Hopefully my New Year resolutions will last more than a week. I need to focus on how much better I will feel after losing some weight. Your poem is my inspiration.

So short and so much verisimilitude! I think every single one of us can relate to this from one year to the next. Really funny. I got a kick out of it, and so true! Loved it.

Congrats on feeling healthier and happier. I'm sure your family is also breathing easier. It's hard not to worry about a loved one who smokes. I like the cartoon you found to accompany your poem. It is perfect.
Happy New Year.

Good limerick, Debi. It looks like we will be battling it out in the contest. Limericks are fun - especially when they clean. I use to suffer from writing dirty ones when I was younger.

Lol, You didn't write the one about the man from Nantucket, did you
Paul? Hahaha! You naughty boy!
Thanks for the great review and comments and I read yours and it was great!
I wish you all the best. Also a Merry Christmas!

Back at you with the Merry Christmas. Believe it or not, my son had a T-shirt that said, "I am the man from Nantucket".
