Congratulations on your win, Regina. You wrote a
poignant reminder of a time when America failed to
honor those who fight to keep us free. Your words
were well thought out and very descriptive. You covered
many of the aspects of the homecoming event most
returning Vets--a heartbreaking time.
Thanks for sharing and participating, Jan

Thank you, Regina. You did great in writing what I feel, what I saw, and for the memories of yesteryear when we marched in line and answer the call. I lost a cousin in war and another because of the complications of the war. I came back to the roar of the crowds (those that slept safely in bed) and changed into my civies, hiding my face. I was ashamed to be an American soldier. We were not loved because of a few. This is a great entry, and I congratulate you on your win. :)

Thank you, Jose.
Welcome Home, and what a
shame what you and your
brothers in arms went through. I can't even imagine.
There are many of us Americans who do have so
much respect for our
Vietnam war veterans. I'm so
sorry you went through a
lack of appreciation from
some others. My every
sympathy for the loss of
your cousin and the other
veteran, they are honored
and you are too. Many
blessings to you, and my
deep gratitude for your
bravery. ~

your taking the time to read
and review my poem. This
was not an easy poem to
write but it needed to be
written. Many blessings to
you.

I'm sure that I've already read this, but why I didn't send a review, I have no earthly idea. I guess, it's the same reason I went to the grocery and come home without the bread. Congratulations on your well deserved win! Thanks for sharing.

A great entry for the contest. I could feel the pain of the mother and wife. Also the pain of the soldier. I new a Vietnam Vet and the flashbacks are real and scary for them and for their loved ones. Good luck in the contest. Well done.

Such a beautiful dedication to our men and woman who have served Regina. Sadly, modern-day America has not seen the last of the wars, and I'm afraid it will be anything but conventional. I enjoyed the read! Best, JohnC

Very kind of you to stop by
and read my poem. This is one of most important poems as far as getting the
message out that our military
deserves good care in a
timely manner. Many
blessings to you.

A heartfelt, tribute for war veterans. I live in Canada and although we are not involved in some wars as much as the states are, it wrenches my guts to hear that Canadians were killed where they were, defending the little guy under attack, just trying to keep the peace. I know a few US vets and deserters from Viet Nam and I believe I can't find the fault in those that ran to Canada
and lived a full life. So many unnecessary deaths on foreign soil
just trying to keep peace and stopping unworthy takeovers.
Thxs for sharing your heart, bless you

Thank you so much, lulube,
you're so kind. I worked for
someone in the states down
here who evaded the Vietnam War draft. I don't
pass judgment on anyone
who avoids war. This is one
of the most important poems
I've-ever written, in company
with my other poems,
"As We Be Breathed," and,
"Everyone's Gone To The Moon " Many blessings to
you.

The poem just flowed out
of me. I wish there were never any more wars. The
youth always pay the price.
Many blessings to you.

Every day should be Veteran's day in America. The homeless veteran problem is a black eye on our country. What a wonderfully written poem.
Good luck in the contest!
Have a great day, and God bless.

Thank you so much, Mike.
Yes, we owe our veterans so
much that we can never repay them even if we all would live 100 years. There's
a homeless veterans shelter
a few towns away from us.
I've donated artwork to it.
It's a beautiful facility and
the vets are treated so well
there. Many blessings to you.
