Thank you. My heart goes out to you, I know what you have gone through. My husband had hospice the last three weeks but I cared for him until then.
Hugs

Indeed you are a woman that believed in the marriage vows...(until death we do part)...I'm so sorry for your loss, I know how hard it can be to lose a loved one...My husband left us in final sleep more than thirty years ago, and it's just like yesterday...My oldest son left us in final sleep in May, and my younger son is in rehab after a stroke...Yes we never know how strong we really are until the time comes when we must use all the strength we have to go on..I hope your back trouble will leave you, and may the rest of your days be Blessed...Take Care and Stay Safe. (good luck in the contest)
Warmly,
Victoria

Thank you for reading and for your thoughtful comments. My back is good now. Thanks for caring.

You're very welcome, I'm so glad your back is better..
Comment from John Ciarmello
You are pretty selfless, and your right love for another puts your pain on the back burner and allows you to move on. He, and I'm sure you, wouldn't have changed much as you took care of Des. Best, JohnC.

Thank you. I made a promise and intended to keep my word. Des had a fear of dying in a hospital or nursing home. I miss him, but there was no cure for his pain or cancer. Hugs

Absolutely, we are undoubtedly much stronger than we give ourselves credit for. You did a tremendous thing to keep your promise to your dying husband amidst your own physical and grieving pain. Very well written. I wish you the best in the contest. Ulla:)))

Thank you. I think Des would have done the same for me if our positions had been reversed. Hugs

I know how you feel. I was married for forty-eight years when he died. It will be five years in November, the twenty sixth. Time does not heal. It has been hard to live without him. One day we will reunite. Thank you for sharing.

First, let me offer my sincere condolences for your loss.
Your story is well-told and compelling. As someone who suffers from sciatic nerve pain, Achilles tendonitis (which is now chronic), fibromyalgia, and Osteo arthritis, believe me, I get it -- you have my utmost sympathy. I am so glad that you've found relief since your surgery!

Thank you. Everyone told me horror stories about back surgery, but I haven't been sorry. I feel one-hundred-percent better. You have my sympathy too. I hope you find some kind of relief. Hugs

I hard story of life, but made better with the love two people share. Our body is a fragile thing, it does not last as long as our will, or spirit. I hope you do well.

Thank you. Yes, my husband never wanted to admit that he was ill. If he had sought help sooner, he might have had a better chance. Almost until the end, he claimed he would be fine soon. Hugs

Thank you. I'm sure a lot of us have experienced hard knocks at one time or another. I read some other entries that are very deserving. Hugs

A lovely story, and what I was impressed about most was your selfless love and care for your husband, despite all your own suffering and pain. Sending best wishes for your entry in the contest.

Thank you, Wendy. It was a rough year, but I survived. I didn't write this to elicit pity, I only wanted to point out that we are stronger than we think we are. Hugs
